UK Day One was set up as an election-year project to crowdsource policies for growth & progress from the UK’s science, technology and innovation communities.
In January 2024, ahead of the General Election, we set up UK Day One to crowdsource policies for growth & progress from the UK’s science, technology and innovation communities.
We believe that so many of the UK’s greatest challenges, from saving the NHS and tackling the cost of living crisis to achieving net-zero targets and preventing pandemics, are downstream of growth.
Government policy can determine the creation, development, and proliferation of scientific research and new technologies. Good policies – and crucially, new ideas – are critical to the long-term progress of Britain.
‘Day One’ describes not only the day after the election, but also a mindset and practice of constant reinvention and improvement.
We have tried to reflect this mindset in our work to break the mould of traditional policy institutes by entrenching ourselves in a wider network of scientists, technologists and entrepreneurs. Britain has no shortage of agents of progress, they just tend not to work in Westminster.
We set out to bridge this gap by translating the expertise and ideas of these communities into actionable policies.
The UK Day One project has now concluded. But if you have idea you would like to discuss with us, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
